Domestic Abuse - End of Year Report Additional documents:
Minutes: Jodie Townsend submitted a report providing (a) an overview of the evidence that has been taken through the Committees 2010/11 review into Domestic Abuse, and (b) the initial conclusions and recommendations made by the Chair of the Committee concerning the review.
The Committee discussed in detail whether to (a) refer the report to Cabinet with the recommendations intact, (b) refer the report to Cabinet for its information only at this time, with the recommendations taken out, and for the Committee to continue its work in the following year, (c) submitting an interim report to Cabinet focusing on what recommendations the Committee can make at the present time. The Committee felt that more clarity was needed in respect of the recommendations. Resolved – (1) That this Committee recommends that: (a) One Swindon consults with TEARS, IDVA service, survivors, the Domestic Abuse Unit, Women’s Refuge and other relevant bodies in determining as a partnership where the priorities for tackling Domestic Abuse and supporting Domestic Abuse services are. (b) The Cabinet and Wiltshire Police come before a future meeting of this committee to explain the targets contained within One Swindon regarding Domestic Abuse, how they are planned to be achieved and delivered and the resources that have been made available (2) That the other recommendations contained within paragraph 4.1 of the report be deferred pending a visit by the Committee to Swindon Women’s refuge and the Committee’s final report on Domestic Abuse. |
