Update from the Wiltshire Police Authority

What are the Police Priorities in your area?

Minutes:

Inspector Roger Bull asked residents to contact him with their priorities for the area.

 

Inspector Bull gave an update on crime figures for the last quarter.  He reminded residents to be vigilant in deterring theft from vehicles. 

 

He advised that if residents would like to visit the call centre at Devizes they could contact him at: roger.bull@wiltshire.police.uk.

Minutes:

The Board Director for Localities submitted a report regarding the allocation of the Locality Fund which was being carried out as a pilot project for 12 months from 1st June 2012.  Ward Members discussed the proposals for use of the Locality Fund within the South Locality.

 

Jackie Moyles (Locality Lead) explained how the 3 elements of the fund would operate.  These were community grants, highways fund and Streetsmart hours.

 

Residents were asked to contact their Ward Councillor with any issues they would like to be considered as part of the Highways fund or StreetSmart hours.

 

Details on how to apply for community grants were available as hand-outs at the meeting and could also be found on the website at www.swindon.gov.uk.  The deadline for the next round of grants was 1st September 2012 and these would be considered at the next South Locality meeting.

 

Resolved –

1)    That the criteria to be used for the allocation of Neighbourhood grants in the South locality for 2012/13 as set out in 3.2 of the report be agreed.

2)    That the allocation of StreetSmart operational hours for July, August & September 2012 be as set out in 3.3 of the report.  Details of the works to be published on the Swindon Borough Council Website.

3)    That the Locality Lead South be authorised to implement 1) and 2) above.

       (No Councillors voted against the resolutions)

4.

An update on the Town Centre Masterplan

Minutes:

Ian Piper from Forward Swindon Limited gave a presentation on the Town Centre Master plan. 

 

He advised that there would be a public exhibition in the central library to promote the plan and they were looking for feedback around mid-July.

5.

Recycling - an update on what can and can't be recycled

Minutes:

Councillor Foley, Ward Councillor and the Cabinet Member for StreetSmart and Corporate Services, gave an update on recycling.

6.

Question and Answer Session

Minutes:

Ward Councillors held a general question and answer session for residents to raise local issues.
