PC Anthony Ducker of the Neighbourhood Policing Team provided an update of crime statistics for different areas within the Locality.  Overall he felt the situation was positive and that crime figures were down in most areas.  However, Violence and Vehicle crime were slightly over the relevant threshold for the area. He asked residents to be vigilant in locking doors and windows, and not leaving valuables on display in cars to reduce opportunistic crime.  He also advised the meeting of PC staff changes within the Locality area.

Pam Gough commented on the criteria for awarding Community Grants within the Locality area. She advised that Ward Members for the North East Locality were recommending that the criteria for 2012/13 remains the same as that used for Community Grants in 2011/12, and that grants would be awarded for projects that had a real benefit to the community.

Pam Gough reported that 6 days were available to the Locality for Tree and Grounds maintenance, and that 3 days were available for Graffiti removal and street washing.

Following comments made at the meeting she undertook to contact Streetsmart regarding the state of the footpath at the Headlands School site as soon as was practicable.

Nigel Hale gave a brief presentation on the Highway improvement element of the Locality Fund.

Localities Members to advise any ‘declaration of interests’ on any matter to be considered.

There were no declarations of interest.

Pam Gough, the Locality Lead, submitted a report regarding the allocation of the Locality Fund which was being carried out as a pilot project for 12 months from 1st June 2012, and which had 3 elements including community grants, highways fund and Streetsmart hours The report set out initial proposals for the North East Locality in relation to elements of the fund within the first phase of the pilot.

Pam Gough explained how the Community Grants element of the fund would be allocated. The deadline for the next round of grants was 1st September 2012.

Resolved –

            1)         That the criteria to be used for the allocation of Neighbourhood grants in the East locality for 2012/13 be as set out in 3.2 of the agenda report.

            2)         That the allocation of StreetSmart operational hours be as set out in 3.4 and 3.6 of the agenda report, subject to additional roads being nominated for the Tree Gang by Ward Councillors based on information received from residents..

            3)         That the Locality Lead North East be authorised to implement 1) and 2) above.
