Minutes:

            Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Andrew Bennett, Alan Bishop, Doreen Dart, Michael Dickinson, Peter Greenhalgh, Peter Heaton-Jones, Fay Howard, Mary Matin, Nicky Sewell, Steve Wakefield, Keith Williams and Dave Wood.

Members are reminded that at the start of the meeting they should declare any known interests in any matter to be considered, and also during the meeting if it becomes apparent that they have an interest in the matters being discussed.

Admission of Monsignor Canon Richard Twomey to be an Honorary Freeman of the Borough

It is resolved, in pursuance of the Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council hereby admit Monsignor Canon Richard Twomey to be an honorary Freeman of the Borough of Swindon as a token of the high esteem in which he is held by the towns people of the Borough and in recognition of his eminent services to the community.  Monsignor Twomey will also be celebrating his 50th year of priesthood on 6th June 2012, of which approximately 40 of those years have been in Swindon.  

Minutes:

            Councillor Mick Bray moved, Councillor Derique Montautseconded, Councillor Stan Pajak concurred and it was unanimously agreed:

“It is resolved, in pursuance of the Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council hereby admit Monsignor Canon Richard Twomey to be an honorary Freeman of the Borough of Swindon as a token of the high esteem in which he is held by the towns people of the Borough and in recognition of his eminent services to the community.  Monsignor Twomey will also be celebrating his 50th year of priesthood on 6th June 2012, of which approximately 40 of those years have been in Swindon.”

 

            The Motion was put to the vote and declared carried.
