Report Concerning the Re-Designation of some Town Centre Streets, for Street Trading Purposes

Minutes:

The Council’s Head of Licensing submitted a report setting out proposed changes to the designation of some town centre streets from prohibited to consent status for the purposes of street trading.

Resolved – (1) That the Council be recommended to approve that the streets in the Borough of Swindon listed below as Prohibition streets shall be given a new designation as Consent streets, that is streets where street trading applications can be made.

New Consent Streets

Fleet Street, Fleming Way (only the area in front of the former post office), Theatre Square, the alley directly alongside the Mail Coach (off Fleet Street), the section of Bridge Street which runs from Fleet Street to the junction with Henry Street and the alley in Queen Street (only the part bounded by the side elevations of 46 and 47 Bridge Street). The changes in designation will come into effect on 9th June 2009 [or such later date as the Council shall determine], being a date after the expiration of one month, beginning with the day after this resolution was passed.

            (2) That, further to (1) above and subject to Confirmation by Council, the changes in designation become effective from 9th June 2009, being a date after the expiration of one month, beginning with the day after this resolution was passed.
